Chapter 3 – Frustration

Week 2 was disappointing but wasn’t overly surprising.  Week 3, however, was flat out disappointing.  The Raiders had a winnable game…in their home opener…against a mediocre football team.

The Raiders looked like a team without a plan.  The offense was putrid.  The defense could not take advantage of a lower tier opposing offense.

Jimmy Garoppolo was terrible in Week 3 as he repeatedly turned the ball over.  The running game continued to be non-existent.  This offense is seemingly only utilizing two players in Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers.  The Raiders spent a 2nd Round Pick on TE Michael Mayer and a 3rd Round Pick on WR Tre Tucker…neither player is involved.  Hunter Renfrow remains one of the best slot WR’s in the league and he is inexplicably absent from the offense as well.

I’m not a “fire the coach” guy.  In fact, I’m a believer that Josh McDaniels can be a successful coach in this league.  I want to see consistency and patience to allow this program to build.  However, the offense is McDaniel’s domain…this is why he was hired.  Last season, the offense was not the problem in why the team struggled.  However, this season, it has been a problem.  The ineptitude is squarely on his shoulders and it has to improve quickly.

Frustration is mounting in Raider Nation.
