Hoyer gets sacked

Chapter 7 – All Too Familiar

We’ve been down this road too many times.  Once again, the Raiders took the road against a team that they should beat and just don’t show up.  Whether it was New Orleans in 2022, Atlanta in 2020, New York in 2019 against the Jets or any of a long list of other examples…this team consistently has at least one of these inexplicable games, seemingly every season.   It’s the games like these that crush a fan’s hope.  The sky is now falling and whatever irrational hope you were clinging to this season has been dashed.

The offense is unexplainably inept.  With players such as Davante Adams, Josh Jacobs, Jakobi Meyers and Michael Mayer, there is no lack of weaponry.  This comes down to poor coaching and a failure on the Quarterback to execute.  The offense ranks in the bottom 10 in the league in the following categories:

  • Yards per play (25)
  • Yards per game (27)
  • Rushing yards per game (32)
  • Points per game (30)
  • 3rd Down % (25)
  • Red Zone % (25)
  • Turnovers (32)

Defensively, we were tricked into believing that this unit was improving.  False.  The Raider defense ranks bottom 10 in the following categories:

  • Missed tackles (23)
  • Pressures (30)
  • QB Knockdowns (31)
  • YAC (23)
  • Completion % (25)
  • Rushing yards per game (23)

Overall, despite having Superstars like Adams, Jacobs and Maxx Crosby, the rest of the roster is poor.  The coaching has not been good enough to overcome the roster deficiencies.  Once again, all hope seems to be lost…just in time for a primetime game against the Lions…where the entire nation gets to watch what lines up to be another potentially embarrassing game for Raider Nation.
